TribuX – “WILD WEST” park festival and program in Leutzsch

Hello dear neighbors and friends,

on 26.04 we invite you to a small festival in the park at the Wasserschloss (- behind the city hall Leutzsch). The party is part of the program of the anarchist days in Leipzig. We want to be visible with anarchist ideas in the west of Leipzig, because we think that anti-authoritarian ideas contain good strategies, which enable us to develop answers to the problems of our time.
One of the keys to a social revolution is the way we communicate with each other and oppose the capitalist logic of exploitation with an attitude of solidarity.
An uncommercial festival in the park is an opportunity to get in touch with different people, to exchange ideas about developments in the neighborhood and the world, and also to simply have a good time.
It is important to us to offer both cultural and explicit content, so we try to put together a colorful program.

There will be contentual contributions about the current situation of the Karl Helga wagon yard, which is threatened by eviction, about the situation at the Polish/Belarusian border and about the “mega” project Tren Maya.

To the ears there will be live music from singer/songwriter to oculist punk to rap.

To marvel will be a variety / circus show.

For children from 8 years there will be the offer to create a newspaper together.

In addition, there will be information booths, food stalls, etc. to enable you to provide yourself with different kinds of food for free and / or at cost.

In case of bad weather we will try to save big parts of the program to the AmEnde in Georg-Schwarz-Straße 178.

We are looking forward to a nice day with you and hope to meet some people before and after the festival at the anarchist days in the Wasserschlosspark.

Your anarchist collective from the neighborhood Tribu.X

Infrastructure projects mean progress and development, so the official discourse. Yet the “Tren Maya” rail and highway project only appears at first glance to be a harmless project of the Mexican government: the new route is to connect five federal states over a distance of more than 1,500 kilometers. Politicians and companies promise jobs, an increase in tourism, and even the road to modernity. In reality, the megaproject means the destruction of the last rainforests in southern Mexico, disregard for the rights of the indigenous population, land grabbing and displacement, and additional militarization in one of the country’s most conflict-ridden regions. On the other hand, a few are hoping for big profits and are pushing ahead unchecked with the realization of the “Tren Maya”. German capital and German companies are also involved in the planning, construction and commissioning.

Thanks to the comprehensive material of the Recherche AG of the Network of Rebellion and Ya Basta Group Jena, the background of the mega-project with transnational participation is illuminated using the example of Deutsche Bahn and reports on the resistance against it, such as currently the caravan El Sur Restiste.

-No Borders (Poland) – Reporting on the situation of refugees at the Polish/Belarusian border. Member of the NoBorders Team

The situation on the border between Poland and Belarus remains unchanged and the humanitarian crisis continues. Started in August 2021 when Russia and Belarus decided to use human lives for their political game. Since then, more and more people are dying on this border. Trapped in the border area without access to humanitarian aid or health care. The Polish government initiates push-backs to Belarus and systematically uses violence.
As an independent grassroots initiative, the NoBorder team is working on the ground, trying to provide people with items they need to survive.
Solidarity without borders.

The newspaper will consist of 2 issues in total. The first will be produced during the Parkfest at Rabet and printed and distributed at the Parkfest in Leutzsch. At the same time a second edition will be produced and distributed together with the first edition during the Gieszerfest.

where can i sit down? and especially how?

urban ‘bench concepts’ dictate not only where but also how and to how many we have to sit and rest in the so-called public space. while collectively wandering around the district and/or towards the city center, we will look for and test just that ‘concept’ of the city of leipzig for its practicability.

time: tuesday, 25.4. 17-19 hrs, place/start: südplatzspäti

wednesday, 4/26, 5-7 p.m., location: leutzsch, wasserschlosspark, start at parkfest

18:30: “The Gentleman Bank Robber: The Story of Butch Lesbian Freedom Fighter rita bo brown” – film screening by QueeringDefaults @Pögehaus (Hedwigstr. 20, barrier-free) (in english)

The documentary “The Gentleman Bank Robber” explores the life of Rita Bo Brown, a white working-class lesbian from rural Oregon who lived an anti-authoritarian, anti-capitalist life in the 1970s, served time in prison, and was a member of the underground organization George Jackson Brigade. Brown participated in several bank robberies and other acts of sabotage to fund the group’s activities and protest the government’s treatment of political prisoners. The film includes interviews with Brown and her fellow activists and highlights her experiences as a lesbian in the 1960s and 1970s, her political activism, and her time in prison. It interweaves personal and political perspectives on the history of 20th-century social movements and highlights the history of queer and left-wing activism in the United States.
